PURPLE HEART
He writes you now
after we’ve written him off
but remember
in a war of words
you’re a decorated veteran
and this time
it’s your battlefield.

This is not my first time in the trenches
but the conflict ended
even if the war did not
and I thought it was done
myself, a war-torn country
hit by your sanctions
and dismissals
Are words or silence my most lethal weapon of your destruction?

Really there’s no end to where we can go with this military theme.

Love the short form. You’ve got in some really pointedly poetic thoughts there. I was about to do some quoting, but then I realized I was talking about the whole poem, so there you go:
“He writes you now
after we’ve written him off
but remember
in a war of words
you’re a decorated veteran
and this time
it’s your battlefield.”
Everything all over again. Beautiful.

Let me say something stupid for once (once?)
In love and war everything is allowed.
Hope you are sure whose battleground is it, cause in love they get much more comfusing that in war.
